Minutes of the November 12, 2009

The regular meeting of the Board of Health was called to order at 7:00 pm. by President Randy Moscaritolo who announced that the meeting was being held in conformance with the Open Public Meeting Act.� Sunshine law was read.

On roll call the following members responded as follows:

Health Officer Ferraioli was present for this evenings meeting.�

A motion was made by Commissioner Neuhauser and seconded by Commissioner Pentz to accept the regular minutes of the previous meeting.� All in favor.

The monthly reports were discussed, approved and carried on motion by Commissioner Pentz and seconded by Commissioner Neuhauser.� All in favor.

The monthly income and expenses for August: Income-$939.00 and Expenses-$4,980.17

A motion was then made by Commissioner Neuhauser and seconded by Commissioner Pentz to approve the finance report and pay the current bills.� Motion carried on roll call as follows:

Correspondence:�

A Resolution from Mayor and Council appointing Thomas Pugliese as Commissioner was introduced.

New Business:

A Resolution to increase the salaries of Health Department staff effective July 1, 2009 was introduced. A motion was then made by Commissioner Forman and seconded by Commissioner Pentz to approve the salary increase.� Motion carried on roll call as follows:

H1N1 Influenza Emergency Resolution was introduced by President Moscaritolo.� Health Officer Ferraioli briefly explained the resolution.� It covers us for liability and if we need additional funds to conduct the program.� The funds will be reimbursed when we receive the monies in December. A motion was then made by Commissioner Forman and seconded by Commissioner Pentz to approve the H1N1 Influenza Emergency Resolution.� Motion carried on roll call as follows:

2010 Budget Request was introduced by President Moscaritolo. Commissioner Forman, Commissioner Pentz and Commissioner Neuhauser were appointed to the Finance Committee.� A meeting was then scheduled for Wednesday, November 18th at 1:00 pm in the Kenilworth Health Office.

Old Business: �

Novel A/H1N1 Flu Strain was discussed. �Health Officer Ferraioli stated he has not scheduled a clinic for the general public because he has not received the vaccine.� Monday St. Theresa�s School had their clinic �214 children and facility members were inoculated.� Friday will finish the daycare schools. Harding and David Brearley Schools will be done Wednesday, November 18th.� The first clinic was for the first responders and had a very poor response.�

The Rabies Clinic will be held on Sunday, October 4th.� 38 animals were vaccinated.� Health Officer Ferraioli stated he expected more next year. �A brief discussion followed.

The Health Fair was held on Saturday, September 26th.� President Moscaritolo stated there were 155 attendees and 135 had blood work.� The balance of the Health Fair account is $21,319.79.� The Eye Mobile was paid $160.� The eye doctor was paid $195.� We had $3,875.00 in donations.� The winner of the contest is Armando Salvatore of St. Theresa�s School.

The Seasonal Flu clinic was held on September 30th.� The Health Dept. provided 383 doses. The Senior Center vaccinated 295. Additional flu vaccine was given at Flexi-Van.�

Liaisons Report:�

Liaison Klinder arrived at 7:44 p.m.� He informed the Board the Kettle Drive is starting on December 5th and continuing on the 12th and 19th.� Anyone wishing to volunteer their time may call to do so.

A motion was made by Commissioner Pentz and seconded by Commissioner Neuhauser to adjourn the meeting at 7:46 p.m.

Next scheduled meeting will be December 17th at 7:00 p.m.
