Facilities Committee Minutes from 3/30/2005

BOROUGH OF KENILWORTH

FACILITIES COMMITTEE

MEETING OF MARCH 30, 2005

Mayor David gave a brief update on where we are as to options available.

George Wittmann – reported he has hired a surveyor and is waiting to get the deed for the Municipal Building.

Hugh Montaque – showed a drawing of a new facility for the Police if built on Cross Street property.

Chief Dowd – felt we should seriously look at building a new building for the Police – we have to look to the future.

Mayor David – felt the cost of a new building would be much more than renovation.

George Wittmann – stated the approximate cost to build would be about 2.6 million (based on $240 per sq. ft. X 11,000 sq. ft.)

Hugh – explained the drawing of the proposed layout of a new Public Safety building – two floors.  He also showed plans of the Buynak Building, which is 5,000 sq. ft. per floor.

George – would like to give us a drawing of what we want space wise – to do this we would do a survey of what each department needs/ wants space-wise if they stay in the present Municipal Building.

It was decided that the department heads would be scheduled to meet with Hugh to give him their wish list for space requirements for their departments.

The next  Facilities Committee meeting will be scheduled after the information is given to Hugh – probably late April or early May.
