BOROUGH OF KENILWORTH FACILITIES COMMITTEE MEETING OF JUNE 15, 2005 Present were Committee Members: Mayor Gregg David, Councilman Edward Galasso, Councilman Frederick Soos, Police Chief William Dowd, Borough Clerk Hedy Lipke George Wittman, Hugh Montague from Schering-Plough. Hugh Montague handed out proposed drawings of the present Municipal Building with expanded space needs requested from each department. Members made a few suggested changes to the proposed drawing. George Wittmann stated that with this proposed plan only interior reconfiguration will be needed – no structural work. He will work up the approximate cost. George Wittmann stated that as he sees it, there are three options available:
Mayor David state there is another potential property – he asked what the committee thinks of the Methodist Church property on the Boulevard. Committee members like that location. Mayor David stated we would have to approach them to ask if they are interested in selling. George Wittman stated he would need to get the outside dimensions of the property. Mayor David said we would have to get the Assessor to value the property. Committee Members agreed that the property is an ideal location even if additions are needed. There is also the possibility of leveling the building at that location and building new. Mayor David wondered who would have to be contacted from the church to inquire if they are interested in selling. Chief Dowd replied that Officer Rich Wood is active in the church and he will ask him about a contact person. George Wittman suggested that the nest step would be to flush out the options – get an architect and a conceptual plan. Mayor David thanked George and Hugh for all their work. **Mayor David to call assessor Paul Parsons to get name of owner of the Methodist Church property and the value. Chief Dowd to get contact person. The next meeting of the Facilities Committee is scheduled for Thursday, June 20th. NOTE: Meetings schedule for June 20, August 2 and August 17, 2005 had to be canceled. |
